Trust Sweet Iron Baby Swales Arched
The Baby Swales is made by Trust and looks like a double bridle but is much easier to use. It has separate rings for attaching the cheek pieces so that the action of the reins is limited to the lower jaw. The Beval can be ridden with two reins, one attached to the lower ring for the action of the curb bit and the other attached to the upper ring for soft contact with the horse's mouth. The so-called arched mouthpiece is a bar that is slightly curved so that there is enough space for the tongue. This exerts an even pressure on the entire tongue. The Sweet alloy oxidises on contact with moisture, so that surface rust is formed. This rust tastes sweet to most horses, which makes the mouthpiece very well accepted. In addition, the rust naturally stimulates saliva production and chewing activity. The Swales should only be used by experienced, sensitive riders as it has a very strong effect on the horse's mouth.
Note: When not in use, a thin layer of orange-brown rust will develop on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
