This western bit can be used with one or optionally with two pairs of pulls. In addition, a chinstrap is often attached, which diverts the pressure on the lower jaw and thus ensures a stronger impact. If one pair of reins (regardless of use with one or two pairs of reins) is buckled into the lower ring, there is a very large leverage effect, which is why this bit belongs in the hands of an experienced and sensitive rider.
